Sale-a-Bration Blog Hop

Hi Guys

it is a long time since I have been a part of a blog hop but with the Sale-a-Bration well and truly upon us it is time to show you some projects.  You should have come here from the lovely Anthea's blog and hasn't she done some lovely things.

 Firstly I have used Sweet Summer.  We were very lucky and we got this set at Convention last year free.  I love this set as much as I love all of the other sets in the Sale-a-Bration catalogue.  I have used the Brights selection of colours for this  set of cards along with a liberal dose of basic pearls.  I have used the DSP Brights Stack which work lovely for this set of cards.  Don't forget to click on the image to make it bigger.  I have then made a box for them all to go in so you could always give away to a friend as a pressie.

My second offering is using the Bliss set.  I have used this set to show that you don't need to distress and make old with this set.  It can be very elegant especially when teamed up with some elegant DSP like I have here using the Lap of Luxury papers.  I have coordinated with Concord Crush, Pretty in Pink, Basic Grey and Very Vanilla.  Along with a liberal smattering of Basic Pearls again it looks really pretty.  The bow on the front of the box has been done by taking a length of ribbon and folding into thirds and wrapped a Pretty in Pink flower brad around and adhered with a dimensional.  The box on this set has two 'pockets' inside for the cards to go in.  The ribbon has been attached with two Pretty in Pink brads through the handles from a bull dog clip, ingenious I saw it somewhere but not sure where so can't credit.

Hi Guys

Well todays offering is for a challenge site.  The theme at 365 Cards today is Love and I have also done one for Mojo Monday.  The first is for 365 Cards

 For the love I punched hearts out of the Sweet and Sour speciality DSP and then added a border around them using Naturals Ivory paper stock.  I have teamed this with Rose Red and Pumpkin Pie cardstock punched with the Scallop trim border, I then added ribbon using the en vogue technique.  The letters are from the on board Alphabet Soup chipboard that have been covered with the Sweet and Sour papers and then sanded to give the edges a distressed look and pearls to just give it a bit of bling.  The greeting has been made using the Basic Phrases stamp set, punched out of the Modern label punch which coordinates nicely with the scallop oval.  I have then added the wide oval on the bottom.

Mojo Monday

I have used the I {heart} hearts stamp set to make this card.  I have stamped and cut out the hearts and  mounted some on Naturals Ivory cardstock and some just on stampin dimensionals.  I have added crystal effects to all of the hearts to give them a glossy appearance.  The 'faux ribbon' roses at the bottom of the card have been made by firstly punching out a 1 3/4" circle in Pumpkin Pie.  Then you need to cut round in a spiral.  Taking the outside end in your tweezers and twist until all twisted up.  Let it relax slightly and glue the bottom of the roses to the round bit that is left from cutting in a spiral.  Add a pearl to the top of each on and voila.  I have mounted them onto a 1 3/4" Rose Red card circle over the top of a piece of Pumpkin Pie 5/8" grosgrain ribbon.

3D Class

Hi Guys

Well how do you fancy coming to me and making this??

I am running this class on Monday 24th and Sunday 30th January.  If you want to come and make this then email me at emmadaye@sky.com.  It will cost £20 and you will get all of the materials to make this plus light refreshment.

We will be using Blueberry Crisp papers, Pacific Point cardstock, For Everything stamp set and lots of lovely basic rhinestones and pearls.

Inspired

Try it on Tuesdays has us using a poem for inspiration today.  I have used the poem 'Shall I compare thee to a Summers Day'.

I printed the poem out and then brayered over it with Bashful Blue and Wild Wasabi ink and did the same on the card that I mounted it on to.

I stuck my poem onto the backing card and then over stamped it with the 'Just Believe' stamp set and stamped the round stamp from the same set with Daffodil Delight.  I have backed this with Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake and then used a piece of Woodland Walk DSP onto Wild Wasabi and Whisper White.

I have punched the matted layer with my 1" circle punch.  I have wrapped a piece of Daffodil Delight Taffeta ribbon tied with a bow to finish it off.

Don't forget to go and look at the rest of the DT's work.

Have a hoot

Hi Guys

Well it is time for the second challenge of the year for Try It On Tuesday.  This week it is a tag with a male theme.  I chose the theme for this week so I hope you enjoy.

I have used the Punch Bunch set that you can earn for free if you spend £45. 

I have cut my tag by hand from Very Vanilla (page 85) so that I can get the proportions that I want.  I then coloured it with crumb cake (page 85) on the bottom layer of colour and here and there with Soft Suede (page 85).  I drew the bark markings with Soft Suede Stampin' Write marker. 

My owls have been stamped and cut.  I stamped with Soft Suede onto Soft Suede for the owl wings and Crumb Cake (page 85) for the chest.  I cut the eyes from Very Vanilla (page 85) stamped in Basic Grey (page 85) and the beak is punched from the heart to heart punch (page 104) in Tangerine Tango (page 82).  I have cut the owls by hand but it will be sooooo much better come April.  (NEWSFLASH we are getting the two step owl punch so you NEED to get this stamp set).

Because this is a male themed tag I have only added a tiny bit of sparkle by putting some of the Basic Rhinestones on the eyes of my owls. (as you can see below)

The branches were punched from the Two Step Bird Punch in Very Vanilla and I coloured with my daubers (page 103) with Soft Suede (page 85) and Old Olive (page 82). 

I have hand written my greeting using Early Espresso Stampin' Write Marker (page 85) and punched out with the Word Window punch (page 104) and added some Early Espresso 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon (page 97).

Happy Birthday

Hi Guys

Todays offering is a birthday card made for my niece who is 8 today.

On a base of Whisper White (page 85) with doodling in Pear Pizzazz (page81) around the edge I have used the Celebrations papers (page 89).  The strip at the back has been matted onto Bashful Blue (page 83) with the dotty piece being matted onto Pacific Point (page 82).  The piece that her name is on is a sticker from the Celebrations stickers (page 92).  For the bunting I have used Party This Way (page 31) with Pacific Point ink (page 82) and for her name I have used the Broadsheet Alphabet (page 76) in Real Red (page 82).  To string the bunting together I punched holes using the 1/16"handheld punch (page106) and then I have used Linen Thread (page 96) to 'hang' it.  I have then used two buttons from The Designer Buttons Brights (page 98).  The ribbon is Real Red Satin (page 96), I have achieved this effect by using sticky strip on the dotty layer and then sticking the ribbon down and then manipulate it left and sticking and then right and sticking.  Here is a video I found on You Tube for you to see how it is done.

For her age I have used the Schoolbook Serif Numbers (page 77) in Bashful Blue (page 83) onto a 1 3/8" circle (page 106) and then onto a Scallop Circle (page 105) which I curled the scallops on to give it a bit of dimension.

A quick sympathy card

Hi Guys

Well I have had 2 friends lose relatives this week and I have made two sympathy cards for them.  I have used the set Hopeful Thoughts for these cards.

I used Very Vanilla for the card base and the top layer.  I matted it on So Saffron.  I inked up the stamp with my Stampin Write Markers using So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and Crumb Cake.  I have doodled around the edge of the top layer.

I have used Early Espresso Taffeta ribbon down the card and Very Vanilla Taffeta ribbon for the bow on the card.  I stamped the sentiment and punched it out with the Wide Oval punch, I then went round the edge with my Crumb Cake Stampin' Write Marker to just lift it a little.

This is a very similar card using the other tree from the set.  Again I inked the tree with Crumb Cake and Wild Wasabi.  I have chopped the corners off with the 1/2" circle punch on the Very Vanilla top layer.  I have used Marina mist Taffeta ribbon and Baja Breeze card stock.  I have done the same with the sentiment by going round it with my Crumb Cake Marker.

New Year, New Beginnings

Hi Guys

Well over at Try it on Tuesdays there are changes afoot.  From today the format of the challenges is going to change and we are going to have a 4 week rota of challenges.  Week 1 is A Card, week 2 is a tag, Week 3 free choice - week 4 altered art and the weeks that have 5 weeks well you will just have to check in as that will be chosen by a member of the DT and it will be different.

Back to this week though and it is week one of January which means it is a Card.  The theme this week is New Beginnings and that can mean anything, new babies, weddings, new house, new job, new year etc.

I have gone for new baby and here it is

I forgot to add this piccy too!

I have used Daffodil Delight so that you can have it in your 'go to' cards.  I have used the Baby Tees wheel (pg 39 catalogue) with basic grey to wheel it in as this is softer than using Basic Black.  I have then wheeled it again and coloured in one of the babygrows in Daffodil Delight and then coloured in the 'body' with my versamark pen (pg 103) and sprinkled it with Heat and Stick powder (pg 100).  I then took my heat gun (pg 100) and heated it until it turns from powder to sticky (this happens a lot quicker than using embossing powder, it also has a distinct smell as it 'turns').  When this happens then I add my Dazzling Diamonds (pg 100) and heat once more (just for a couple of seconds) to 'seal' the Dazzling Diamonds.

I have used Curly Cute (pg 75) and Daffodil Delight ink (pg 82) and stamped onto Whisper White.  I have used my trimmer (pg107) to trim down the word and punched the ends with the Modern Label punch (pg 105) and then punched two more from Daffodil Delight cardstock (pg 82) and added it to either end and trimmed where necessary.

Sale-a-Bration

Hi Guys

Well firstly let me say Happy New Year to all my blog readers and a big thank you for following my blog over the last year and I hope you will continue to follow my blog over this year as well.

Here are some samples using the Sweet Summer set from Sale-a-Bration.

Firstly I have decorated a candle.

This is done by firstly taking some tissue paper and stamping your design on it and then I coloured it in with my Stampin' Write markers.  Cut down your design as close as you can.  Now most of the tutorials for this are American and they ask for waxed paper, but here in good old UK we can safely use greaseproof paper.  So take a piece of greaseproof paper big enough to wrap around the candle and grip hold of.  Next take your heat gun and gently heat your candle, the bonus with greaseproof is that you can see through it and can see when the tissue paper has melted into the candle.  Do this until all of your design has melted into the candle and voila there you have a fabulous gift.

My next offering is a gift box and notelets.

On both these and the candle I have used the In Colours.  The cards are Very Vanilla base with Poppy Parade mat.  The flowers have been stamped with Pear Pizzazz and Poppy Parade.  To colour them in I have used my blender pen and drawn colour from the edges.  These are 3"x3" notelets.  I have made a small gift box to put them in and wrapped a piece of the stitched-poly ribbon in Poppy Parade.
